He establishes the supremacy and sufficiency of&nbsp; Christ and his covenant.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hebrews is the book of \u201cbetter things\u201d\u2026.Christ superior to ancient prophets, angels, Moses, Aaron and other priests.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>8 specific passages of Old Testament mentioned.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Word- Supremacy of Christ<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Content- Superiority of Jesus Christ, Call to follow Jesus faithfully despite tribulations, Rules for Christian living.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>James<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Author- James; half brother of Jesus, from Joseph &amp; Mary; a leader of the Jerusalem Church. Silas was the intermediate agent in writing 1 Peter.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dated- 60-64 A.D.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Theme- Instructions for holy living for those suffering persecution and proper conduct as God\u2019s holy people.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Word- Suffering for the cause of Christ.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Content- Holiness of life through obedience and submission, Duties and conduct of all.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>2nd Peter<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Author- Apostle Peter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Written to Christians in Western Asia Minor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dated- 65-68 A.D.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Theme- Peter teaches how to deal with false teachers &amp; evil doers who have come in to the Church. In his 1st letter Peter instructed believers how to deal with persecution from outside the Church.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Words- Guard against false teachers; beware but grow.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Content- Growth in Christian virtues, Warnings against false teachers, Christ\u2019s return<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>1st John<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Author- Apostle John; He was in Ephesus [modern Turkey] during most of his later years.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Written to believers in Western Asia Minor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dated- 85-95 A.D.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Theme- Assuring believers of the certainity of their faith and refuting heresies [false doctrines] that Jesus was not fully human and fully divine.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Word- Fellowship with God.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Content- Fellowship with the Father &amp; Son, Antichrists<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>2nd John<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Author- Apostle John<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Written to the \u201clady chosen by God\u201d, probably of a local church in Western Asia Minor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dated- 85-95 A.D.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Theme-John writes to urge discernment in accepting and supporting travelling teachers since false teachers were also traveling and teaching false doctrines.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>During the first two centuries, the Gospel was taken from place to place by travelling evangelists and teachers.
